Shoe Drive for Orphans
We are looking forward to an exciting month at The Grove. As I posted yesterday, we will be participating with over what is now 1300 churches during June in ONE PRAYER. As part of that month-long emphasis, we will be working hard to collect new shoes for orphans around the world. The shoes will sent to a missionary ministry called Buckner International. We take so many things for granted, and I am just as guilty of that as anyone. Most of us look in our closets and have to make choices about which shoes we will wear today. There are many orphans around the world for whom that “luxury” does not exist. They simply have no shoes. And that leads to increased disease.
Buckner collects, then distributes shoes to orphans around the world and ministers to them with hope, health, and the good news of the gospel. We are proud to partner with them and with the churches involved in ONE PRAYER to accomplish some wonderful things in June.
We are also being joined in this effort by The Journey Church. The Christian radio stations in the area are offering some wonderful publicity, and St Paul’s Lutheran is allowing us to distribute fliers at their concert this Friday night. God is doing some wonderful things as churches and Christians partner together in our common faith to do great work.
If you are in the Peoria, IL area, I urge you to consider picking up a new pair of shoes to share with an orphan. It will do us all good.
