I’m way overdue for a post of this nature. Since I’ve been blogging, I’ve been exposed to some online services and ideas that I think are really awesome. Some don’t have an application for me, but I still think they’re cool. I have found a few though that have become very helpful tools. I thought I’d point you in their direction and maybe you can benefit from them too.
JOTT
Since I Twitter (and those of you who don’t, you don’t know what you’re missing), I find myself at times wanting to send a quick txt mssg while driving. I’ve learned that’s not a good idea. What to do? Enter Jott. Jott is a free service (my favorite price) that allows you to call a toll-free number and speak a message that will be sent by text message and by email to the contact or contacts of your choice. Just like with email, you can set up groups. Jott also has convenient links to several other services including Twitter, and Xpenser, which I’ll talk more about later. Here are the highlights of Jott for me:
* Jott myself - ever driven down the road and remembered something you forgot? You can jott yourself and it will send you both a text message and email reminder at the time that you tell it too.. very helpful. It’s almost like having a personal assistant/schedule keeper/task master.
* Jott Twitter - much better solution while driving
* Jott Groups - Jott allows me to send out a group message that is sure to be seen. Some people only read email while others ignore email altogether. Jott sends out messages in both formats.
* Jott Xpenser - I’ll post more about xpenser tomorrow.
You can import your email lists from most email services, so it’s not hard to set up. Do yourself a favor (especially all you people who tweet while driving) and get signed up on Jott.

UPDATED NOTE: Kind of wierd that the day I post this, Jott comes out of its “beta” stage. Maybe that’s like washing a car and then it rains. Anyway, you can still Jott for free, but some of the funtionality will now cost a few $$ month. But I will pay the $4/month to use Jott the way I have gotten used to it.

Ending uga_filter: I’m way overdue for a post of this nature. Since I’ve been blogging, I’ve been exposed to some online services and ideas that I think are really awesome. Some don’t have an application for me, but I still think they’re cool. I have found a few though that have become very helpful tools. I thought I’d point you in their direction and maybe you can benefit from them too.
JOTT
Since I Twitter (and those of you who don’t, you don’t know what you’re missing), I find myself at times wanting to send a quick txt mssg while driving. I’ve learned that’s not a good idea. What to do? Enter Jott. Jott is a free service (my favorite price) that allows you to call a toll-free number and speak a message that will be sent by text message and by email to the contact or contacts of your choice. Just like with email, you can set up groups. Jott also has convenient links to several other services including Twitter, and Xpenser, which I’ll talk more about later. Here are the highlights of Jott for me:
* Jott myself - ever driven down the road and remembered something you forgot? You can jott yourself and it will send you both a text message and email reminder at the time that you tell it too.. very helpful. It’s almost like having a personal assistant/schedule keeper/task master.
* Jott Twitter - much better solution while driving
* Jott Groups - Jott allows me to send out a group message that is sure to be seen. Some people only read email while others ignore email altogether. Jott sends out messages in both formats.
* Jott Xpenser - I’ll post more about xpenser tomorrow.
You can import your email lists from most email services, so it’s not hard to set up. Do yourself a favor (especially all you people who tweet while driving) and get signed up on Jott.

UPDATED NOTE: Kind of wierd that the day I post this, Jott comes out of its “beta” stage. Maybe that’s like washing a car and then it rains. Anyway, you can still Jott for free, but some of the funtionality will now cost a few $$ month. But I will pay the $4/month to use Jott the way I have gotten used to it.
