Too Much Info Is a Bad Thing?

Too Much Info Is a Bad Thing?

knowledgeCame across an interesting post by Seth Godin this morning.  Godin is a marketing guru that has written twelve best-selling business books.  In his post this morning, he made the following observation:

“In my experience, data crowds out faith. And without faith, it’s hard to believe in the data enough to make a leap…… The skeptic will always find a reason, even if it’s one the rest of us don’t think is a good one. Relying too much on proof distracts you from the real mission–which is emotional connection.”

Having spent several years in professional sales, I have seen the truth of this.  It’s not facts and figures that closes a deal.  Ultimately, everyone is asking (although often silently) “What does this mean to me?”.  Facts alone, knowledge alone does not answer the underlying question.

What does this imply to those of us who are Christ-followers?  Please share your thoughts on this question.

Hoping to get some feedback on this one…. so let me ask another question. Is information alone enough? If not, is information even necessary? If so, how much info and when should it be presented?
