Back in June, I made a post about our church changing its name to Second Chance Church. Ever since then, we’ve been preparing for a Grand Re-Opening which will kick off Sept 28. The concluding week of our GRO series will feature a night of comedy. Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought we’d be able to get Brad Stine…. BUT GOD ROCKS! Beyond our wildest dreams for that closing weekend, I am thrilled to announce that we will have Brad Stine at Second Chance Church, Nov 8. So, for my Friday dose of humor, I thought I’d whet your appetite with a clip from Brad….enjoy!

Biblical Error?

I have always believed in the inerrancy of scripture. But today in my readings in Proverbs I discovered what I believe to be an error;

A bowl of vegetables with someone you love is better than steak with someone you hate. - Prov 15:17

ummmmm, don’t think so.. gimme the steak baby!

But you decide. Is Solomon off base here or am I missing something?

I’m glad I’m a man… and every now and then I see or hear something that makes me even more thankful for that fact.

I love humor… and more often than not, I’m reminded why that is such a good thing.

And every now and then… I come across something that confirms both at the same time….

Thankful beyond words I don’t have to walk in heels……….

Pastor’s Nightmares

As I shared with my readers Sunday night, I had one of those embarrasing, I-can’t-believe-that-just-happened, moments on Sunday as I began the service with my fly undone. It just seems that anyone who is in front of people in a public way on any sort of regular basis will suffer a similar fate sooner or later. Maybe because I want to make myself feel better about my own gaffe, or maybe just because it kills me every time I see it, I thought I would share one of the funniest “preaching gone bad” moments I have ever seen. A simple slip of the tongue is all it takes as he reviews a passage about “pitching tents” …..

I usually like humor that just sort of grabs you by the throat and makes you start laughing immediately. This is not that sort of humor. I came across this over on Todd Rhodes blog. It starts sort of slow, but stay with it. If you’re a parent, you’ve been down this road. Just remember the grieving “process” here and let the humor build. Poor Lucky….

Usually I like to offer a dose of humor on Friday, but I came across this video on another blog I read (Thanks, Scott), and found it strangely fascinating. Not only are the locations amazing, but watching people join in and participate just makes you want to join in with ‘em. This should bring a smile to your face as you wrap up the week…

I think my favorite scene is with the tribesmen from New Guinea… how about you? What’s your favorite scene?
