My bracket took a hit this afternoon as Texas looked like they were slow-dancing while Memphis was doing the jitterbug….all over their face. That hurt me but if Kansas wins, I’ll still have 3 of the final 4. As much as I want my bracket to stay as strong as it can, I can honestly say that I wouldn’t be greatly upset if Davidson pulls the upset. What an awesome story that would be, huh?
So what does Denver have to do with this post????
WE’RE GOING TO SEE DENVER AND THE MILE HIGH ORCHESTRA TONIGHT!
As a fan of music, we decided to watch “The Next Great American Band” last summer as a family. DMHO was on that show. They remind me of some of the old Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire music of the ’70s with all the brass. Really cool sound that you don’t hear very often anymore. We’re going with a group of friends from The Grove. It should be great fun. I’ll miss the end of the Davidson/KU game, but I’m good with whichever way it turns out.
(By the way, this may be the only post in history that ever combines the NCAA Tournament and DMHO)
Well, we’re finally down to the real deal. My handicapping was pretty good for this week’s final cuts. Let’s review my previous comments: Read the full story
For the first time in several weeks, I’ll have a chance to watch the gals “live”. I’m usually occupied on Wednesday nights, so it’s typically a DVR situation. But TONIGHT, I’m free (or at least cheap). I’m not exactly what to expect from the gals tonight, but it HAS to be better than the dudes last night. Thank goodness that was only a one-hour episode. I’m not sure I could’ve tolerated a longer one. The guys just don’t seem to have any real aggressiveness to them. In the end, this is still a competition. You’ve got to go out and get it done…you’ve got to win it. And the guys just seem to be half-steppin’. The girls seem to have more spunk. So we’ll see if that plays out tonight or not. There’s obviously one girl shocked she’s still singing tonight, that being Kady “I don’t know who I am” Malloy who squeaked by a much better Alaina Whitaker last week. As long as she’s doing impressions, she’s funny and engaging. But as soon as she starts being Kady, she seems totally lost. It will be interesting to see if she finds out who she is this week.
Time to grab the popcorn and another round of Pepsi (my apologies to Coke…the official American Idol sponsor).
• Asai’h Epperson - She’s got spunk…and this is a song with some attitude. But she’s off her game tonight. Read the full story
I may be slow, but I’m not stupid. When two people I respect, both recommend the same book to me in short order, I take notice. The most recent referral came from Brooke M. (thanks Brooke) who is absolutely committed to spreading the news of this book. The book is called “Save Me From Myself“, by Brian Welch, former lead guitarist for the hard rock band Korn.
In 2008, we’ve been stressing the need to seek out and find the “something more” that Jesus told us was available to us. In an earlier post, I shared an interview with Tom Brady (click here) when he appeared on Sixty Minutes. What was startling about the interview was his open admission that in spite of all his success, there must be something more.
Brian Welch, in the midst of living the “big life”, was struggling with the same question. But he has found the answers that Tom Brady is apparently still looking for. Watch this inspiring, convicting piece of video. Then call a friend and send them this way too.
